Parent Support for Anxious Children
Anxiety Foundations Framework:
From feeling bewildered and overwhelmed by your child’s selective mutism or anxiety…
to leading with calm, clarity, and confidence.
A 12‑week framework for families who are ready to stop guessing — and start guiding their child out of anxiety with a consistent, evidence‑based approach.
Your child’s struggles are real — and you’re not alone. Selective mutism and childhood anxiety require specific, parent‑led techniques that most parenting advice simply doesn’t cover.
I support parents online from my home in Guildford, Surrey, using proven approaches including the SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions) programme.

You’re exhausted. And you just want to get this right.

You love your child deeply. You would do anything to help them feel braver, calmer, and more able to participate in life.
You want them to:
-
find their voice at school
-
separate from you more easily
-
manage bedtime without panic
-
answer people when spoken to
-
feel confident trying new things
But right now:
-
You second‑guess every response
-
You’ve tried different approaches, but nothing sticks
-
Mornings and evenings are dominated by worry, avoidance, or shutdowns
-
Your child is shrinking away from things they once enjoyed
-
You feel helpless, frustrated, and quietly heartbroken
And underneath it all sits the question that never leaves:
“Am I handling this the right way?”
Is this right for you?
This programme is designed for parents of primary‑aged children who:

-
freeze, shut down, or become overwhelmed in certain environments
-

-
avoid demands or become distressed when things feel unpredictable
And for parents who:
-
want a calm, consistent, parent‑led approach
-
want their family to enjoy school events, holidays, activities, and everyday routines again
-
feel ready to make meaningful changes
-
are committed to doing this work over 12 weeks
-
If you’re thinking, “I need this,” you’re in the right place.
If you're thinking 'I need this!', you're in the right place.

The Foundations Framework
A proven approach to helping your child overcome anxiety
The Anxiety Foundations Framework is my signature 12‑week programme that takes you from confusion and fear to clarity and confidence.
It builds on the SPACE treatment model — and expands it with additional foundational elements I’ve developed through years of supporting families whose children struggle with selective mutism and related anxieties.
Over three months, we work closely together to:
-
shift how anxiety operates in your home
-
change your child’s relationship with anxious thoughts and feelings
-
build lasting confidence and resilience
-
strengthen your connection with your child
-
create sustainable change that continues long after our work ends
You don’t need your child to opt in.
You lead the change —
and I guide you every step of the way.
This isn’t a quick fix. It’s a foundation that transforms how your family handles anxiety.

How I work with parents
Free Consultation Call
We'll discuss your child's specific challenges, your family situation, and whether parent-led support is right for you. There's no pressure - just an honest conversation about how I can help.
Anxiety Foundations Framework
This is where I start with all families, building the strong foundations that naturally and organically help lots of anxious thoughts and behaviours fall away.
Anxiety Deeper Work
Some anxious behaviours are deeper rooted, and may require the full intervention, which encompasses the whole SPACE anxiety treatment program. Together we will work out if this is what your child needs.
Ongoing Support
I continue to work with many families to regularly check in, or deal with new events that they are dealing with.
Why I Love Parent-Led Approaches
As a parent, I'm doing all the work, meaning no convincing my child to engage
When my daughter had selective mutism, taking her to traditional therapy wasn't an option. She couldn't engage in the sessions because she couldn't speak.
Like you might have experienced, I tried everything: rewards, encouragement, gentle pushing, backing off completely. Nothing worked, and I felt more helpless every day.
That's when I discovered parent-led approaches. I learned that by changing my responses and behaviours around her anxiety, I could help her build confidence without asking her to do anything that felt scary.
The results were incredible. Not only did my daughter make dramatic progress, but I felt empowered and in control for the first time in years.
This approach has now helped dozens of families I've worked with experience the same transformation.

children of any age, experiencing any level of anxiety
-
neurodivergent children
-
children who refuse or are too young for traditional therapy
-
parents who want to address anxiety early before it becomes more severe
-

-
A formal diagnosis
-
Your child to agree or know about the sessions
-
Your child to attend any of the sessions
-
To wait months for NHS support
What if my child is neurodivergent?
No problem - many of the families I support have neurodivergent children. Anxiety and emotion regulation challenges are very common with neurodivergent conditions. The SPACE program has been validated as effective for autistic children.
What if only one parent can attend?
That's fine. Many families have one parent attending. Sessions can be recorded so your partner can watch them later and stay informed.
Do you work with children directly?
No - my approach is entirely parent-led. You attend the sessions, and you implement the strategies at home. This is actually more effective than traditional child therapy for many anxiety challenges.
Where are the sessions held?
I'm based in Surrey, but individual sessions are hosted online, on Zoom. This means I can support families throughout Surrey, across the UK and internationally. If you have access to the internet, I can help you.
Who comes to the sessions?
The parents come to the sessions, not the child. Ideally both parents attend (if possible) so you can support each other and stay consistent with the approach. However, sessions can be recorded and confidentially shared after the session so that both parent can have access to all the same information.
How long and how often are the sessions?
The sessions are 1 hour long, every other week. In between each session you have new parts of the program to implement at home, and ongoing support and accountability from me.
